She had nowhere else to go.
Happy was abandoned in a parking lot after her family decided she meowed too much. For a long time, she was on her own. She slept in parking spots and wandered by strangers, hoping that eventually her life would change.
When a woman named Lyn started noticing Happy, she knew she needed to help her. She began bringing Happy food and even made her a little place to sleep with a soft, cozy bed, working on earning her trust. Lyn found her sleeping in a parking spot one day, resting her head on the concrete bumper. She sat down on the ground and spent some time bonding with Happy. The sweet senior cat snuggled into Lyn’s lap, enjoying the love and attention.
Unfortunately, Lyn was unable to secure Happy that day, but she didn’t give up — and soon the abandoned cat was in her care and on her way to the vet.
Happy was so well-behaved while she got checked over and just seemed so thrilled that she was finally safe. Once her appointment was done, Lyn took her home — and that’s when Happy realized she’d never be a street cat ever again.
It took a little time, but before long, Happy was all settled in and thriving in her new home. She couldn’t believe how much love she was getting. Happy clearly hadn’t been as cherished as she should have been in her previous home, and lots of things were brand new to her, including getting to sleep on a human’s bed.
When Happy jumped up onto her mom’s bed for the very first time, she looked so unsure. She was afraid of getting yelled at — but she soon realized that she belonged there. She settled in to take a snooze, and her mom couldn’t have been happier with how content she finally was.
It’s now been a while since Happy moved into her new home, and she and her mom are inseparable.
“I adopted her on September 16th last year … time flies,” Lyn said. “It’s been over a year, and she’s brought endless joy to me and my family!”
Happy recently celebrated her 11th birthday, and her mom made her a special cake and sang to her while she devoured it. She went from sleeping on concrete pillows to being showered with love, and she and her mom couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.
