Joe Lycett announces he has become a dad for the first time

Joe revealed he’s become a dad to a baby boy

Joe Lycett has revealed he’s become a dad for the first time.

The comedian, 36, took to his social media where he thanked Birmingham Women’s Hospital for all they had done in welcoming his baby son into the world.

Lycett also shared a photo of him cuddling the little one, who he could be seen holding underneath his jacket.

Huge congratulations to Joe Lycett (Instagram/@joelycett)

“An appreciation post from me for the extraordinary @bham_womens hospital,” he wrote.

“My first encounter with them was years ago when they looked after a pal of mine through surgery, and then most recently when they masterfully welcomed a little boy into the world, who happens to be my son.

“The care and compassion his mum and he received was exceptional; from the antenatal classes, incredible midwives, consultants, doctors, nurses and the ongoing care in the community. We also loved their baked potatoes. Birmingham is so lucky to have them and I will be forever grateful for everything they’ve done.

“I am LOVING being a dad but sadly I think this now means I can’t get out of going on Rob and Josh’s f*****g podcast. We will not be taking any press requests about this as we have already sold the rights to the first family picture to Autotrader.”

Following the post, Birmingham Women’s Hospital commented, congratulating Lycett on the happy news.

They wrote: “Massive congratulations again to you all. We’re so proud to have supported you on this incredible life-changing milestone. We wish you all the best and lots of gorgeous cuddles for the future.”

Meanwhile, Autotrader also commented: “Congratulations again Joe! We can’t wait to publish the photos of Mini Cooper Lycett.”

Lycett is known for his stunts, which has lead some followers to question if the announcement is legit, but according to the Guardian, the happy news is real.

The post comes just days after Lycett announced he has a secret girlfriend, who he calls ‘Denise’ to respect her privacy.

Speaking on Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon-Boulash’s podcast The Pieces, he said: “So I’ve got Winston the cat, and my partner Denise. And, um, she’s not called Denise, but I don’t talk about her, because she has a job that she can’t be in the public eye.

“I call her Denise because she hates the name Denise, so, uh, I live with Denise.”

Lycett also spoke about his sexuality, adding: “Well, it’s interesting now being in a long-term relationship with a woman because loads of people are like, sorry what? There was a brief period when I was at school when I thought because I was attracted to men, I was gay, and then I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on.

“Then I use the term bisexual when anyone asks and I just want to give a quick answer because people understand that.

“But I think the most accurate way of describing myself is pansexual, in that I’m not attracted to people, just because of their gender.”Featured Image Credit: Instagram/joelycett Kate Green/Getty Images

Dad with ADHD tried medicinal cannabis for the first time and couldn’t believe the impact

Doctors can prescribe cannabis for medicinal use in the UK

A British dad has opened up on his experience after being prescribed medicinal cannabis to help him cope with his ADHD.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, is a condition that roughly 2.6 million people in the UK have been diagnosed with. Of those 694,000 children and children and around 1.9 million are adults.

It is a diagnosis that is often missed, with some people only being diagnosed later in life.

Some symptoms include making careless errors in schoolwork or at work; trouble paying attention; and having issues when it comes to organising.

For Liam Hunt, from Huntingdon in England, the diagnosis came during his adult life when he was 32 years old. Now aged 37, the dad-of-one has turned to prescriptions from a private medical cannabis clinic to help deal with the disorder.

But after experiencing issues with two drugs prescribed his way, he sought out alternative treatment via medicinal cannabis.

Cannabis is, of course, illegal to buy in the UK. But your doctor can prescribe you it for particular conditions, with it available on the NHS if issued by a specialist hospital doctor.

“The first tablet my GP prescribed me just made me sweat a lot, which really wasn’t nice,” Liam explained when speaking about the prescription drug known as xaggitin.

“I was just constantly drinking water to rehydrate, and it just made me feel a lot worse.”

Liam Hunt said the cannabis helps with his prescription’s side effects (Liam Hunt)

He then went on to another form of medication called lisdexamfetamine, which he described as ‘okay but it’s really messed with my sleep and my appetite’.

While on the drugs, Liam says he still found himself struggling to cope with how his mind was reacting due to his ADHD.

“I would constantly be thinking about what happened throughout the whole day. Everything would just play in my mind,” he said.

After seeking out therapy, the Cambridgeshire dad discussed alternative treatment such as prescribed cannabis.

And following on from an initial consultation with specialist doctors at Alternaleaf, he was prescribed with 20 grams a month and spreads the cost of all of the appointments he needs by paying a membership fee of £15 per month.

After starting this treatment alongside the lisdexamfetamine, Liam explained how the cannabis helped ‘centre him’.

“At the end of the day, when I get home, I will take my dog for a walk, and that’s when I will vape the medical cannabis,” he says. “It gives me the chance to settle down and it calms me. It centres me, if you wish. It makes everything silent in my head.

“My thought process is all over the place. It used to take ages to get anything done.

“Now, I’m slowly getting used to putting my life in order. It’s quite simply easier to control life. It really helps me to eat and sleep much better, too, and eases the side effects of the lisdexamfetamine.”

As of 2023, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence estimates the global prevalence of ADHD in children to be around five percent, and in adults in the UK at three to four percent.

With diagnoses increasing, demand on prescription drugs is growing at a rate that cannot keep up, with shortages being experienced across the country.

The NHS reported a shortage last autumn as a result of a combination of manufacturing issues and an increase in global demand.

Hilarious reason why Joe Lycett wore full Elizabethan gown to BAFTAs

Comedian Joe Lycett certainly turned heads with his get up tonig

Joe Lycett rocked up to the TV BAFTAs in a full Elizabethan gown this evening (12 May) and there’s a hilarious reason why.

With bright orange hair, the comedian walked the red carpet in London dressed as Queen Elizabeth I.

Tonight’s (12 May) TV awards are hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and Lycett’s Channel 4 show, Late Night Lycett, is up for an award.

But it’s his bizarre outfit stealing the show already as he and his two aunties chatted to media before the awards ceremony.

Joe Lycett. (Neil Mockford/FilmMagic)

One X user wrote: “Joe Lycett said, ‘I will make the BAFTAs my Met Gala‘.”

A second joked: “I feel sorry for the persons sat behind @joelycett tonight….”

And another pointed out: “Joe Lycett actually went through with his promise to attend the BAFTAs dressed as Elizabeth I. Incredible.”

Yep, that’s because Lycett made a promise to wear the costume, after losing a bet with his aunties who are essentially stars of his show.

He said that if Margaret and Pauline managed to get 200,000 followers on Instagram by a certain date, then he’d attend tonight’s show dressed as the Tudor queen.

And, good for the aunties, they made it. Although, if they had hit 250,000 by today, then EastEnders actor Natalie Cassidy would have walked the red carpet alongside as his ‘lady-in-waiting’.

Oh well, Queen Elizabeth I seems good enough.

Lycett shared the snap to Instagram, alongside a portrait of the actual Lizzie, with the caption: “Who wore it best?”

BAFTA commented to say it’s ‘incredible’ as Lorraine Kelly wrote: “You are very very silly – keep up the good work.”

Radio 1 host Greg James wrote: “Perfect weather for it! Elizabetty Swollocks.”

And singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor put: “I love this look.”

One user joked on X: “I hope Joe Lycett wins an award purely so he has to get on stage in that outfit and confuse the heck out of people who haven’t watched Late Night Lycett or don’t follow him on Instagram.”

Jack Grealish becomes first time dad as England star and girlfriend announce birth of their baby

Jack Grealish and Sasha Attwood have welcomed their first baby together

Jack Grealish and his girlfriend, Sasha Attwood, have welcomed their first child together.

The Manchester City forward, 29, took to social media to share a black and white photo of him holding his baby’s hand.

“Mila Rose Grealish 27/09/24,” the caption read.

Attwood, 28, also shared the same image on her Instagram feed, calling it ‘the most special moment of my life’.

According to The Sun, the pair started dating as teenagers back in their Solihull school days.

Attwood has reportedly been with the footballer throughout his pro career after Grealish made his senior debut for Aston Villa in 2014 prior to his big-money transfer to City in 2021.

The attacking midfielder, who now plays in the left forward position, has already won two Premier League trophies, one FA Cup, one Champions League and one EFL Cup with City.

Following the Manchester club’s historic treble win, Grealish was left out of the Euro 2024 squad by England manager Gareth Southgate.

Grealish admitted that he was left ‘heartbroken’ over the incident.

England, of course, lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

During a pre-season tour press conference, Grealish said: “When you are on your holidays, every time you turn on the phone or the TV you just see it [the tournament], so it was hard not to see.

“I’ll be honest, football-wise it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with in terms of my own career.

“I was absolutely heartbroken. For myself now moving forward, I have to just try and use that as motivation going into this season.

“I felt I should have been in the [England] squad. I feel like I offer something different to players in the England squad. But it is what it is.

“As I said, it was the hardest moment for me as a footballer. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career.”

However, Grealish has now been reinstated back in the England squad following Southgate’s departure.

After scoring on his return to the team in September, he said: “I need to start playing regularly and scoring goals, that is what I did today.

“I still don’t feel 100 per cent fit but I am getting there. From a personal point of view, I am happy.

“It meant everything, just going to the fans at the end and hearing them cheer my name and stuff.

“Listen, there is no better feeling than playing for England, especially in games like this, when the whole nation is watching.

“I have said it before in another interview, the summer was one of the worst of my life because you can’t not see what is happening in front of you. It was difficult but it has given me more resolve to bounce back.”Featured Image Credit: Instagram/@sasha__rebecca/Instagram/@jackgrealish

Dad says he has no regrets after spending nearly £600 on family holiday that lasted just half a day

This is one way to make the most of your day off

A dad has revealed that he has no regrets after dropping nearly £600 pounds on a 12-hour holiday with his family.

Finding fun for all the family can often be complicated – and pricey – which is why one dad decided to make sure his wife and children had a day to remember and head out on a pretty adventurous day trip.

Like all great stories, 48-year-old Johnathan Wright’s day trip started by rousing the family at 2am so that he could head down to Luton Airport with wife, Anna, 45, and three children, Edward, 18, Oliver, 17 and Alexander, 14.

Johnathan Wright decided to take his family on an extreme day trip (SWNS)

Their intended location? Prague, also known as the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’.

The Wrights landed in the Czech capital at 9am and wasted no time in setting off exploring, making stops at the city’s famous Charles Bridge, Old Town Square (which features the iconic astronomical clock) and Prague Castle.

“All the buildings look like they are from Disney, they were so beautiful,” Johnathan said of the city, adding that the family had to ‘jam-pack their itinerary to take in all the sights.

Sightseeing wasn’t the only thing the family enjoyed throughout the day either, with the Wrights having a quick power nap in the park as well as enjoying local beers like Staropramen and the famous chimney cakes.

For Johnathan the highlight of the day was the riverboat cruise, which provided a welcome break from sightseeing.

“It took us away from the heat of the day and gave us an opportunity to properly look at the city,” he said.

In total, the family spent £584 on their trip, roughly £116 for each person, with air travel for the family of five making up the largest expense at £250. The remaining £334 was spent on meals, snacks, transport and the boat trip.

The experience is one Jonathan would personally do again (SWNS)

And the adventure certainly beats a day out at your closest theme park, cinema or shopping centre.

The family left Prague just before 10pm and arrived back in the UK at 11:15pm (factoring in the one hour time difference) before finally making it back home for 1:40am.

Although his family didn’t seem too keen on embarking on another extreme day trip anytime soon, Jonathan said he’d be more than happy to do one again.

“I personally would do it again but I’m not sure my family would,” he said.

“I think it is great way of seeing new cities and also you don’t have to spend as much as you would do on a proper holiday.”

So now you know what to do the next time you have a day off with nothing to do.Featured Image Credit: SWNS
