The film has a tragic story behind it
Netflix’s newest thriller has a tragic true story behind the production of it.
Released today on Halloween, it comes three years after it was initially filmed in 2021.
Called Time Cut, it follows a young girl who is sent back in time to 2003.
She then realises she has been sent back to before the murder of her sister and races against time to try and save her.
Here’s the trailer:
The film has opened to mostly mixed reviews, though when you dig deeper below the seams, you find a tragic story.
Though they aren’t listed in the credits, one of the members of the crew died in an incredibly high-profile incident.
Halyna Hutchins worked on the film, one of the final projects she worked on prior to her death.
She spent three weeks working on the Netflix film alongside director of photography for the film, Tony Mirza.
Hutchins died in 2021, shortly after working on the movie.
She was killed after a fatal accident on the set of the film Rust, which led to Alec Baldwin being charged and taken to trial for involuntary manslaughter.

Baldwin’s case was thrown out after it was revealed that prosecutors had withheld evidence from the defence.
Hutchins was revealed to have worked on the newly released film in a report by CBS.
In this report, it is revealed she worked closely with the assistant director in addition to Mirza.
The assistant director’s husband, Dave Brown, worked as the firearm safety expert on Time Cut, and said at the time of her death: “We’re sitting there, and all of a sudden we read the name and it was like, ‘Oh my God, we just worked with her two months ago’.
“We did exactly the same safety checks that we would normally do, showing the actors, showing every single person, on set safety briefings.
“The whole thing from beginning to end, which is why this whole story is so tragic, is the fact that, you know, it would have been impossible for something like that to happen here.”

Brown also stated that the Netflix film used unloaded guns.
Hutchins was killed on the set of Rust after a gun loaded with a live round went off, killing her instantly.
Director Joel Souza was also injured in the incident.
The film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, and received a prison sentence of 18 months.
In addition to handing over a gun with a live round on set, it was later reported that on a previous film, she had handed an unchecked gun to a child actor.Featured Image Credit: Netflix
