“Despite what he went through, he remained the sweetest, most lovable dog.”
When Collins first arrived at the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA), the resilient pup was at a low point.
“Collins came to us from a place of unimaginable cruelty,” Pennsylvania SPCA wrote in a Facebook post. “[H]e arrived in very rough shape — underweight, vomiting and broken in spirit.”
As soon as he saw his rescuers, Collins collapsed into their arms, desperate for affection.
“It’s not standard to lay on the floor with dogs, but this guy was craving human attention,” Lindsey King, PSPCA volunteer programs manager, told The Dodo. “Despite what he went through, he remained the sweetest, most lovable dog.”

PSPCA staff members knew that Collins was something special.
“Collins is really the whole package,” King said. “He loves to play with toys or chew a bone. He also loves to sit and cuddle with you. He is playful and spunky and really affectionate.”

Safe at the PSPCA, Collins continued recovering and coming out of his shell. Now, all he needed was a family.

It wasn’t too long before Collins found who he was looking for.
“It was no surprise that his family saw what we saw right away!” King said. “His family was looking for a big, [lovable] pittie, and their connection was almost instant.”

No longer forced to fend for himself, Collins gets to enjoy every moment of his happy ending.
