Teachers are banning ‘skibidi toilet’ phrase being used in classroom as bizarre trend takes over

Some teachers have come up with their own way of dealing with the viral ‘skibidi toilet’ trend

I don’t know about you but when I was a kid, the type of thing being banned at school was playing Bulldog on the playground. Then at high school, it was trainers for shoes or wearing makeup.

But now it seems the big thing teachers are having to ban is the phrase ‘skibidi toilet’. Yep, as the bizarre trend (which we’ve broken down for those of you currently thinking ‘what the f**k?’) takes over, it’s causing a bit of a headache for schools.

The phenomenon is absolutely huge for Gen Alpha and is all thanks to a pretty weird YouTube series.

Animator Alexey Gerasimov created the creepy videos which has led to a swathe of TikTok sounds of viral fame.

Yeah, creepy (DaFuq!?Boom!)

And with it having so much popularity with kids, singing the songs and shouting out ‘skibidi toilet’ has taken over.

So this led to a viral TikTok showing a teacher appearing to give her class a presentation on: “When can you yell ‘skibidi toilet’.”

And her pupils are told they only can do so ‘between the hours of 12am and 9:15am and 4pm to 11:59.”

So yes, any time when they are not in school basically.

“That is on purpose,” she adds.

But while she thanks her class for listening to the rules, she does seem to still be confused as she asks: “Also what is skibidi toilet?”

This led to a teacher even commenting to say: “I told them if I hear that word one more time I’m quitting.”

However, another said: “I notice the more I say it the less the students say it. Cringe factor for the win!”

Over on Reddit, a user asked teachers: “What are teachers’ thoughts about skibidi toilet and its impact on students, and things similar to it?”

One teacher replied: “It’s annoying and disrupts class but it’s not new. Every generation has its thing.”

Another slammed: “I’m so tired of hearing it. I have a sign that says skibidi is banned in my classroom. It’s just annoying to me.”

And someone else said: “Meh, there’s always dumb things students are doing. It’s all white noise at this point.”

And while some might be banning the phrase ‘skibidi toilet’, other teachers seem to be agreeing in a different way to combat it.

“If it annoys you try my strategy for making it not cool: I began singing that stupid song skibbidy bop bop bee bee skibiddy bop bop beep beep boop. Problem solved. My kids HATED hearing me sing it and stopped!” one wrote.Featured Image Credit: DaFuq!?Boom!/Getty Stock Image

Skibidi Toilet trend explained as bizarre phenomenon goes viral

Engraved on a necklace for Kim Kardashian, many of us are left scratching our heads

Baffling phrases and slang often leave you feeling really old, or just thinking: ‘What the f**k is going on?’

And among all the Gen Z words many people are trying to get their heads around is the more bizarre phenomenon of ‘Skibidi Toilet’.

From trending on TikTok to North West getting her mum Kim Kardashian a diamond necklace with it engraved on, it’s got to be the weirdest phrase of the year.

So, if you’re also confused as to just what on earth this even means, let’s bring ourselves up to date and have the viral Skibidi Toilet trend explained.

Yeah, creepy (DaFuq!?Boom!)

Where did the Skibidi Toilet trend come from?

So, the whole thing started thanks to a simple 11-second animated video which has gone on to be viewed over a gigantic 208 million times. And since then, there’s been a swathe of follow-ups and remixes.

Back in February 2023, animator Alexey Gerasimov took inspiration from a recurring nightmare he used to have. He then created a short which shows a man’s head emerging from a toilet, singing out a TikTok remix of the Biser King track ‘Dom Dom Yes Yes’.

What is Skibidi Toilet about?

It seems the gross toilets are some kind of invasive alien species or maybe a virus but there’s much debate over whether they are the baddies or not.

And it appears the world is coming to an end around them with the army of mechanical men with speakers, screens and cameras for heads. Any humans that did seem dead are replaced by the toilets which keep getting stronger.

One fan theory is that the bizarre songs are how the Skibidis communicate and spread their ‘virus’ while others think it’s a battle between traditional and new media (film and TV vs. memes and viral content).

It’s a whole series (DaFuq!?Boom!)

The Skibidi Toilet growth

Gerasimov’s channel is known as ‘DaFuq!?Boom!’ and continued to share toilet heads which gradually became a real narrative.

This saw a great war between the Skibidi Toilets and the Camera Heads.

And there’s no argument that this series would’ve really been able to take off on a normal kids’ platform but kids are truly obsessed.

What was once a nightmare for Gerasimov has now become a huge series with its own dystopian universe, complete with bizarre songs.

Why has the Skibidi Toilet trend become so popular?

Thanks to the catchy song and the weirdness of a human head inside a gross toilet, people can’t escape the very idea of it now.

And while you might be thinking this all sounds ‘very Gen Z’, it’s actually Gen Alpha where Skibidi Toilet has taken off.

Yep, those born between 2010 and now seem to be the core fans of this trend.

Hugely popular on YouTube, Gerasimov has been able to rack up millions of subscribers as the series has become an absolute whopper. And then TikTok has further strengthened the popularity of the trend as videos relating to ‘Skibidi Toilet’ have over 20 billion views.
