“Please stop …”
The other day, Reddit user Frameset was passing by a grocery store near his home in Liverpool, England, when a random cat caught his eye.
Huddling all alone in a dirt patch at the side of the store, she appeared at first to be a hungry stray.
But all was not as it seemed. And there was a note to prove it.
Moving in for a better look at the pitiful-seeming cat, Frameset realized that the cat was sitting on a bed of cardboard. And on one piece of cardboard was a written message.
Turns out, the cat’s lowly demeanor was all a ruse.

“Please do not feed the black and white cat,” the note read.
“My name is Lili and I have a home on Kenyon [the next street over]. I am an actress! I like attention! I like food! It is very kind of you, but please stop feeding me, because I will spend less time at home. Thank you x”
Evidently, Lili had only been moonlighting as a needy stray to inspire people to give her pets and snacks.
After Frameset shared word of the meeting with Lili on Reddit, other users reported similar encounters.
“She’s very friendly,” one user wrote. “But I think half the problem is she sits in places that make it look like she needs help.”
The Dodo attempted to track down Lili’s owner to learn more about her but was unable to. A vet clinic, located down the street from her home, did provide some confirmation that she is indeed a real charmer:
“We are unable to comment in regards to any patient details due to data protection laws,” the clinic told The Dodo in an email. “However our staff members often come across Lili on their lunch breaks and she is very sweet! She meows and walks towards you for cuddles and attention.”
Just no snacks, please.
